NOTICE OF PART-TIME/TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

The D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics Office of the General Counsel is seeking several law students (2L or 3L) to serve as election law officers during the District of Columbia primary election on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 and general election on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. Election law officers are given the task of assisting Precinct Captains with legal concerns on Election Day, such as completion of Election Day registration forms and adequate demonstration of proof of residence; maintenance of proper procedures during challenges to voter qualifications; and detection of electioneering and election fraud.

Election law officers must attend a mandatory training session at least one week prior to the commencement of early voting. In addition to working the full-day on Election Day, election law officers may be asked to commit to at least one full-day of work during the early voting period at satellite locations, September 4-11 and October 23-30.

If necessary, telephone interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis, concluding the week of August 16-20.

Compensation for this position is $10.00/hour.
