First day that nominating petitions can be circulated for the April 3 election | |||
First day that nominating petitions may be circulated [D.C. Official Code § 1-1001.08(i)(4); 1-1021 (144 days before the election)]. Board determines nominating petition signature requirements. [D.C. Official Code § 1-1001.08(i)(3)]: Presidential Nominee - 1,000 or 1% (whichever is less) of registered qualified electors of the same political party as the nominee [D.C. Official Code §§ 1-1001.05(b)(2)] Presidential Delegates and Alternates (whether committed or uncommitted individual delegate or alternate nominees, or committed or uncommitted individual delegate or alternate nominees) - 1,000 or 1% (whichever is less) of registered qualified electors of the same political party as the nominee(s) [D.C. Official Code §§ 1-1001.05(b)(3)] Delegate to the United States House of Representatives; At-Large Member of the Council, United States Senator, and United States Representative - 2,000 or 1% (whichever is less) of registered qualified electors of the same political party as the candidate [D.C. Official Code §§ 1-1001.08(i)(1)(B) and 1-1001.08(i)(3)] Ward Member of the Council - 250 or 1% (whichever is less) of registered qualified electors residing in the same ward from which the candidate seeks election and who are of the same political party as the candidate [D.C. Official Code §§ 1-1001.08(i)(2) and 1-1001.08(i)(3)] National Committeemen/National Committeewomen and Alternates - 500 or 1% (whichever is less) of registered qualified electors of the same political party as the candidate [D.C. Official Code §§ 1-1001.08(i)(2) and 1-1001.08(i)(3)] At-Large Local Party Committee Member - 500 or 1% (whichever is less) of registered qualified electors of the same political party as the candidate [D.C. Official Code §§ 1-1001.08(a)(1)(A) and 1-1001.08(i)(3)] Ward Local Party Committee Member - 100 or 1% (whichever is less) of registered qualified electors residing in the same ward from which the candidate seeks election who are of the same political party as the candidate [D.C. Official Code §§ 1-1001.08(a)(2)] Computation of the exact number of registered voters and the entire list of registered voters upon which such count was based are posted in the Board's offices until the end of the petition challenge period [D.C. Official Code § 1-1001.08(i)(3)]. |
